Visible India

Exhibition with Indian photographs

The two-day exhibition, which concluded on Wednesday,

featured more than 300 photographs taken by freelance

photographer Anil Aryanad, who was a member of a team

led by magician Gopinath Muthukad who undertook a four-

month journey through various States in the country

spreading the message of Ahimsa of Mahatma Gandhi. The

pictures exhibited mainly reflected the life in villages in

divided into various categories based on the themes such as

`Mirage of Development,' `The Wonder of Colours' and

`Bapu in Memories'.

According to Mr. Muthukad, Mr. Anil had tried to discover

real India through his camera. Behind the shining face of

prosperity and development evident in the cities of the

country, lies the wrinkled and pathetic face of rural India.

The photo of a highway in Bihar with its potholes exposed

the state of infrastructure development of the State, which is

one of the poorest in the country. The pictures of senior

citizens of villages of various States revealed that despite the

security offered by strong family tradition, a large number of

old people in the country have to toil hard to earn their daily

bread.
